Making Over Our Primary Bedroom with Wayfair for a Classic, Clean Look

A few weeks ago, Mike and I decided it was finally time to give our primary bedroom the attention it deserved. We started by painting everything a fresh, clean white and pulling up the old carpet. That alone made a huge difference—but now we’re onto the fun part: furnishing.

I’m so excited to partner with Wayfair on this blog post, detailing all the great items we purchased from Wayfair to make this room feel brand new. Links on this blog are paid links, but opinions are my own.

I knew I wanted to find timeless, well-made pieces that would ship quickly (because one thing about me—I like to get a room done ASAP once I start!). So I turned to Wayfair, which has always been a go-to for us when we’re in project mode. It didn’t disappoint!

This bedroom is connected to our marble bathroom, which also has a ton from Wayfair, so I wanted to keep the same classic black and white vibes going in here.

We started with the foundation: this neutral area rug. The mix of browns, grays, and whites ties the room together beautifully without overpowering it. It adds warmth and texture, grounding the space in the most effortless way.  I got it in an 8×10, but they have numerous sizes to pick from.

Then came the bed. We chose a white upholstered bed frame that feels clean and classic, with just the right amount of softness. It was easy to assemble, beautifully made, and instantly made the room feel like a retreat.  I like that the bottom frame is also upholstered, not just a bed skirt.  The clearance is also decently high – I’m able to store small items under the bed, like my sweaters.

One thing I kept from my old bedroom is one of my favorite bedding layers: a 100% cotton waffle blanket—also from Wayfair. It’s breathable, cozy, and has a satisfying weight to it. I always wash it on cold to keep it from shrinking, and it’s held up perfectly.

The final touch (for now): our nightstands. These black beauties bring in just the right contrast. I love the traditional silhouette paired with the modern convenience of built-in USB, USB-C, and outlet ports—no more digging for chargers before bed. And if black isn’t your thing, they also come in beautiful wood tones.

While I’m thrilled with how far we’ve come, we’re not done just yet. Down the line, we’re planning to add more architectural interest with additional molding, built-in closets for better storage, and maybe even a small work desk. We’re also tossing around the idea of expanding into the fourth bedroom to create a home gym!

Stay tuned—this space is still evolving, but I love seeing how each layer makes it feel more and more like us. And if you’re ready to refresh a room of your own, I’ve linked all of our bedroom picks on my LTK to make the hunt a little easier.
