Why We Chose Automatic Blinds (And Why I’m So Glad We Did)

After years of fussing with cords, tugging uneven sides, and blinds that never quite lined up, I finally decided to upgrade to automatic blinds—and honestly, I don’t know why I waited so long.

We’ve been slowly updating our home to be both more functional and more polished, and this felt like one of those small changes with a big impact. I wanted a solution that worked beautifully and looked seamless, and these motorized shades checked every box.

A Clean Look—Inside and Out

One of the biggest reasons I made the switch? I wanted all of our windows to look uniform from the outside. There’s something so satisfying about that clean, symmetrical look—especially when you’re pulling into the driveway. Inside, they blend right into our window casings. You barely even notice them until they move. And that’s exactly the point.

We chose the Textured White shade option, and I’m so happy with the finish. It has a subtle texture to it—nothing too bold, just enough to add some depth and softness. Most importantly, it’s a true white that perfectly matches our window trim and paint color. It feels custom, without the custom price tag.

Smart Home Approved

The blinds come with a remote that makes raising and lowering them a breeze, but the real game-changer is connecting them to Alexa. With a hub (we use the Bond Bridge), I can schedule them to go up in the morning and lower at sunset—all automatically. No more rushing around the house to close blinds before dinner.

Whether I’m prepping the house for the evening or just want to block a bit of glare during the day, it’s one of those luxuries that quietly makes a big difference in our daily routine.

Where We Put Them

I started with the main living area and was instantly hooked. So naturally, I added them to the dining room next—and I’m already eyeing a few more spots around the house. More on that soon!
