I’ve been having so much fun decorating for Halloween this year! Between our 16-foot skeleton, inflatables, and Halloween trees, our house is looking pretty festive. But when I spotted a Halloween window projection on TikTok, I knew I had to try it!

The best part? It’s surprisingly easy to set up, and the finished result is so fun!

What You’ll Need
- Video projector
- USB flash drive
- Halloween projection video
- Opaque white shower curtain (if you don’t have white blinds)
How to Set Up Your Halloween Window Projection
Let me start by saying that this project is so much easier than it looks! I was honestly surprised by how quickly everything came together once I had all the supplies.
Step 1: Download Your Halloween Projection Video
First, I downloaded this dancing skeleton video. I thought it was the perfect balance of spooky and fun without being too creepy or scary for younger trick-or-treaters.
The website also offers projections for other holidays, which is a huge bonus! If you’re investing in a projector, you can easily reuse it for Christmas and other celebrations throughout the year.
Step 2: Transfer the Video to a USB Flash Drive
Next, I ordered a USB flash drive from Amazon. Once it arrived, I downloaded the skeleton videos to my computer and simply dragged the files onto the flash drive.
That’s it! No complicated software or technical skills required.
Step 3: Connect the USB to Your Projector
I plugged the flash drive into the video projector and selected the “Movie” option from the menu.
Before setting everything up in the window, I aimed the projector at a wall to make sure the video played correctly. Success!
Step 4: Set Up Your Window Projection
Originally, I purchased an opaque white shower curtain to hang over our window to create the perfect projection surface.
But here’s a little trick I discovered: our white window blinds worked perfectly!
If you already have white blinds, try projecting onto those first. You might be able to skip the shower curtain altogether!
If you don’t have white blinds, simply hang an opaque white shower curtain over the window and aim your projector toward it from inside your home.

The Finished Result
I absolutely love how this turned out! It’s such a fun way to add a little Halloween magic to our home, and I think the trick-or-treaters are going to love it.
Plus, now that we have the projector, I’m already thinking about all the ways we can use it for Christmas and other holidays.
If you’ve been wanting to try a Halloween window projection, this is your sign to do it. It’s an easy, high-impact decoration that looks much more complicated than it actually is!
Happy Halloween!
